Personality: If one were to cross a ball of sunshine with a golden retriever and give whatever results a human form, you’d get Thoma. He’s an absolute joy to be around, with a sunny disposition and easy-going attitude. That kind of works against him sometimes, as some of the others under the employ of the Yashiro Commission (one of the three commissions that help govern the island nation of Inazuma – think fantasy Japan. Thoma is in their employ as a housekeeper, retainer, and “fixer”) think that Thoma doesn’t pull his weight, but that hardly bothers him. He gets bad-mouthed at lot for his apparent lack of having a “real job” within the Commission and for his foreign origins, and he just lets it slide right off his back.
Others can talk about him all they want – he’s not one to hold a grudge. So long as the people close to him know the real him, then he’s happy. He’s so forgiving, in fact, that he harbors no resentment towards the Raiden Shogun, the deity that rules over Inazuma, for nearly stripping him of his Vision. Losing his Vision would not have only caused him to lose his elemental abilities, but he would have literally been stripped of his ambitions, and possibly some of his memories too. While he says he can’t agree with the Shogun’s decision to seize people’s Visions, he recognizes that she was acting based on her beliefs, and he can’t fault her for that.
His pleasant nature also means it’s easy for him to connect with people. In his time in Inazuma, he’s put together a surprising web of connections. But don’t let his sunshine smile fool you – Thoma has quite the mind for business, and his connections are more than simple friends. They’re merchants and quartermasters and loan sharks and everything in between, and Thoma has made it his business to know their business. By calling in a few simple favors, he could ruin a man’s reputation just as easily as he could raise it up. At the end of the day, his loyalty is to the Yashiro Commission and the Kamisato clan who runs it. Everything he does is for them. The Kamisatos saved his life and took him in when he washed up in Inazuma after being shipwrecked, and he takes great joy in being in their service. Rumor has it that with Thoma around, the Kamisato clan has no need for any other retainers.
All that nasty political stuff aside, Thoma is aware that one can often catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and still relies on his charms and easy attitude more than he does his web of connections – though he is still quite sharp. Others have noticed that he can direct even the most affable of conversations towards a single purpose if he has to, and people outside the Yashiro Commission often come to him for advice in settling business or even personal matters.
Thoma also has quite a soft spot for animals, and that may be where the kindness of his heart shines through the most. He’s unofficially adopted pretty much all the stray cats and dogs on the outskirts of Inazuma City, and can often be found bringing them food, knitting them sweaters (yes really), and generally just hanging out with and petting them. Perhaps he feels a sort of connection with them, since he was something of a stray himself when he washed up on Inazuma’s shores.

Suitability & Plans: Thoma is definitely the type to want to make the best of any situation and jump in with both feet. In the time he was in Inazuma, he was able to become well-connected with and well-versed in the ways of its culture, customs, and people. Songerein will be no different. Even in the TDM he was acquainting himself with dreamotion abilities and dreamwalking quite well! Apart from that, his personality lends itself well to forming CR with all types of people - he’s friendly and outgoing and always willing to help. He will absolutely thrive here and help out in any way he can!

Abilities & Inventory:
ABILITIES:
• PYRO VISION - Visions are items granted to certain people by the elemental gods of Teyvat. They give the Vision Bearer the power of an element, and their skills are representative of their ambitions. With his Pyro Vision, Thoma can basically wield fire magic, but he also excels at protecting his allies since he is able to create powerful shields.
• HAMMERSPACE POCKET - Vision Bearers seem to be able to access a pocket of hammerspace for storing their weapons. It’s unknown just how many things can be kept in there, but characters rarely keep more than one or two weapons. Thoma uses his to hold a single polearm.
• HOUSEKEEPING - On the mundane side of things, Thoma is an incredibly competent housekeeper and retainer. He has skills in bartering, cooking, cleaning, mending, and knitting. He takes joy in all of these things, and puts his heart into any task he’s given, no matter how mundane.
INVENTORY:
• VISION - As mentioned above, a Vision is a physical thing. Thoma keeps his worn on his hip.
• WEAPON - The aforementioned polearm! It’s just a regular spear and is not special or magical in any way.
• LUCKY OMAMORI - An omamori given to Thoma by his mother before he left Mondstadt for Inazuma. It isn’t magical either, but it does have significant sentimental value for him.
